Get your Cat used to the new cat flap
It is always a good idea get your cat used to the cat flap first before installation.
We advise putting the cat flap next to your pet’s food. Now your cat will begin to get comfortable with the cat flap. As cats are so curious, they will wonder over and start to investigate the new cat flap. This is ideal if you have a microchip cat flap as you could program it to their chip before putting it in the door or glass.
Consider the best location for the Pet Door
Pet Doors can be installed in doors & windows, giving plenty of flexibility when it comes to finding the right place to fit the cat flap. Your cat can be more mobile than you think and often some windows are overlooked as people believe it would not be possible for the cat to climb.
We will always advise fitting a pet door in a place that opens out onto a sheltered area of your garden. Your pet will like to feel secure when they come into and go out of the house
Height of your Pet
We recommend fitting your cat flap 20cm from the bottom of the floor. From experience, this is the ideal height to install the cat flap. If you need to install the cat flap higher, consider placing steps either side to help your cat to get in and out more easily. For a Dog measure his belly to the bottom of the floor and use this dimension.
